Fight the Frump - Haircolor for Idiots Edition

Yes, I am actually participating in Fight the Frump today over at Mrs. Fussypants . See I know how to credit a fellow blogger and you're not going to get me on plagiarism.
I am a hair color nightmare. Beyond the fact I HATE to color my own hair, we (which is me pointing this out to my husband) figured out the other night, my hair is approximately 5 different shades: Dark Brown, Red-Brown, coppery brown, dark blond and my favorite, gray. Ick. This is because I got my hair professionally done back in November. Then it started growing out and had no money to go to the salon, so I slapped another shade over in January, but that didn't cover the ends. It was last colored sometime in April, I think, by me, and another shade of brown, coppery brown. However, I am still broke, so even going to my favorite color salon will cost $100 total. So what to do?

1) get a bottle of hair color
Yeah, that's not really my hair color, but work with me here. I haven't seen my real hair color since sometime in 1992
2) take picture of Jennifer and the Amazing Technicolor Hair. See how amazing it is!
see this pic makes my hair look good, which it didn't. it looked scary!
3) apply hair color to match lightest shade on her head (to even all this out) read directions first to make sure this is like almost every other hair color on the market.

Note - almost same pic appears on my driver's license.
4) wait and blog
5) rinse
6) dry
7) there you go! Ummm, not really, see what I still have....
ROOTS! ugh. Wait two weeks and figure out what to do next.... now its only two shades, stay tuned.....

LOL I haven't seen my natural color since 1992 either! HAHAHAHAH

I'm not sure why your ends aren't picking up the color. I did a post on hair color a while back, here it is: http://ultrabeautyboutique.com/?p=111
